The holidays are over. The chaos has just begun. Alice and Tally have always prided themselves on their talent for breaking the rules at St Cecilia’s and getting away with it. But with their new housemistress, the tyrannical Mrs Hoare, determined to spoil everyone’s fun, the girls are going to have to get a lot more creative if they're going to get what they want.
And when sparks fly, things are bound to get explosive. As Alice and Tristan plan to take their relationship to the next level, Tally distracts herself from her recent heartbreak by turning her charms on Rando. But is Rando's heart still set on her? At least things are properly heating up for Dylan and Jasper… With body temperatures rising, a pool party at Rando’s country estate should be just the thing to cool everyone down. But suddenly, everything’s getting way too hot to handle…

Name: Kate Kingsley
Kate Kingsley has lived on both sides of the Atlantic, spending time in New York, London, Paris and Rome - so she's more than qualified to chronicle the jet-set lives of the YOUNG, LOADED AND FABULOUS girls. Kate also writes for magazines such as GQ in New York, where she's had the enviable task of interviewing fashion designers like Paul Smith, and celebrities like James McAvoy. This is Kate's first novel. She's currently hard at work on her next book about the YL&F crew.
Check out Kate's tour of the Young, Loaded and Fabulous hotspots of London here!
Who would you most hate to be stuck in a lift with? Angelina Jolie. My worst nightmare – it’s bad enough feeling claustrophobic in a lift, without feeling ugly next to some statuesque do-gooder.
Who would you most like to be stuck in a lift with? Ryan Gosling. Totally hot, and so good in Half Nelson. Also my grandmother. She emigrated to New York from Poland and died when I was three. I'd like to hear her stories.
What was the last song you listened to? Reckoner (Radiohead)
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you? Being stuck in a lift with Ryan Gosling. Just kidding. Really, being able to write the Young, Loaded and Fabulous books. That's the weirdest and most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me.
Where is your favourite place in the whole world? The San Lorenzo neighbourhood of Rome, where I lived for several months. The chaos is glorious. My flat's balcony overhung a sunny square filled with waving laundry, people shouting to each other out the windows, delicious cafes, and graffiti painted by the students from the nearby university. I also love Westhampton Beach in New York, where I’ve been going every year since I was born. On sunny evenings, I stay until the crowds have left and walk along the Atlantic, splashing my feet in the ocean.
Ketchup or mayonnaise? Mayonnaise. It goes with more things. Ketchup with lobster? Please.
What’s your favourite book? Oh no, that's got to be my least favourite question ever - I hate choosing! Here are three: The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami; The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James; Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov.
Favourite midnight snack? A glass of red wine.
Most embarrassing celebrity crush? Timothy Olyphant – he plays Sheriff Bullock in Deadwood! I have a feeling he might be a geek in real life.
Do you follow trends or have your own style? I try to do both. Is that possible? Yeah right! Maybe I'm just fooling myself...
If you were an animal which one would you be and why? Well, I love being independent… I adore traveling and exploring and people-watching and bird's-eye views... And of course I want to be able to fly. So maybe an eagle. I'd build my nest on a cliff.
NATALYA ABBOTT
Tally for short, arrived at St C's from Moscow after her bitchy Russian mother shipped her over to London to live with her father. Stunningly beautiful, flighty and adventurous, she charms everyone she meets. She’s best friends with Alice and adored by all the Hasted House boys. But Tally wants a man not a boy, and she already has her eye on the hot new English teacher.
JEMIMAH CALTHORPE DE VYLE-HANSWICKE
The rumours about Mimah are flying around St C's. After the scandal involving her father, a corrupt judge, sleeping with prostitutes, the word on the street is that Mimah paid a certain Hasted House boy a thousand pounds to sleep with her. Now labelled a freak, she has been ditched by her ex-best-friends Alice and Tally and ousted from the clique. But you can't get rid of Mimah that easily.
TRISTAN MURRAY-MIDDLETON
Totally gorgeous and charming, Tristan is who every guy at Hasted House wants to be. Especially now he has two of the hottest girls at St C’s fighting over him. His summer fling with Dylan sure was fun, but Alice is special and he has known her for ever. Maybe he's just not ready for the heavy romance stuff; maybe he should just stick to writing songs about it for his band instead.
SEB OGILVY
As Tristan's best mate, Seb has always walked in his shadow – not that he minds that much. Seriously rich, easy going and a little mysterious, there is clearly more to Seb than meets the eye. Unlike Tristan, he hasn't been known to have much success with the ladies, despite being pursued quite forcefully by certain St C’s girls. Is he just shy, or is there something else going on?
ALICE ROCHESTER
Coming from a powerful family, Alice always gets what she wants – no matter what it takes. Everyone wants to be her friend; no one wants to be her enemy. Super-stylish, clever and ambitious, she is the leader of the St Cecilia's social elite. It's perfectly fitting then that she has fallen for her social equal Tristan, who also happens to be her oldest and closet male friend – but what she hasn't bargained for is that she may have some competition.
DYLAN TAYLOR
Ever since her mother told her they were moving to London and she would have to attend a stuffy English boarding school, Dylan has been miserable. Leaving New York was tough but it might just be worth it now that she knows Tristan, her cute summer romance, goes to the boys’ school in the same town. Naïve to the cut-throat ways of an elite boarding school, new girl Dylan needs to watch her back. The question is, what will it take to make her realise this?
